but first -- a deadline likely
to be missed, intentionally, by the
bush-cheney white house:

we all, i think, now know that 10 a.m.,
e.d.t., on monday, july 9, 2007 is the
deadline for a response to sen. leahy,
and rep. conyers, from the bush white
house, on the largely spurrious "blanket"
assertion of executive privilege. i think
most of us guess -- with good reason -- that
fred fielding won't answer on time, or with
much real substance. . . and if so, then a
contempt proceeding is to follow. . .

and, if that is the case, mr. fielding's
suggestion that sara taylor will defy the
senate -- and fail comply with her subpoena,
would make for a second, sub-text constitutional
show-down between the two branches of government.

but, if, by some chance, there is a thoughtful
response from the white house, it may have
implications for the sara taylor appearance
on the 11th -- including the possibility that
she'd testify, at least as to some matters. . .

we'll see. . .

and thus, with all that is going on next
week, here's a start at my posts to keep
it all straight, and orderly. . .

with the house judiciary hearing
scheduled on the same day -- july 11
[on the lawfulness of the president's
commutation of libby's sentence] -- i
thought it would be wise to place an
early marker here, to remind all that
sara taylor is scheduled to appear at
10 a.m., e.d.t. before sen. patrick leahy,
and the senate judiciary committee, to
explain all those nakedly nasty, and political,
e-mails
(see one of 'em, below) she wrote
while working for karl rove at the white
house. . . i don't want this to slip off
of our collective radar screens -- so i'll
have a live video feed link here, the morning
of the hearing. . .
