bon mot alert: senator jay rockefeller, chair of select committee on intelligence

this may be more a complaint
about the administration's distain
for the rule of law, than a compliment
of the new york times' abilities -- but
it makes the central point that the "fourth
estate" to the functioning of our republic
is a truly free press -- to bathe, in sunlight,
all would-be tyrants and despots:

"I find it unfathomable that the committee tasked with oversight of the C.I.A.’s detention and interrogation program would be provided more information by The New York Times than by the Department of Justice. . ."
