HJC chairman john conyers -- it's cheney's documents subpoena-in' time!

after months -- nay, years -- of foot-
dragging by the gonzales-cum-mukasey DoJ,
finally chairman conyers has had enough.

yesterday -- in his role as chairman of
the u.s. house judiciary committee -- (see
videos, below) he issued a very broad
subpoena -- due back on july 7, 2008
[though, in an obvious typo, the press release
(at bottom) recites a subpoena return date of
july 9 -- while the actual operative document --
the subpoena, itself, recites a july 7 return],
for all the documents known to exist, but
to date, delivered only in part, or in re-
dacted forms -- or not at all -- re-
lated to each of the various scandals engulfing
the vice president and, to a lesser extent,
the president, himself. the above (click it
to enlarge) is the portion of the subpoena which
orders delivery of all of dick cheney's notes,
etc. -- already delivered to special counsel
patrick fitzgerald in his investigation of the
valerie plame CIA-leak case which saw cheney's
chief of staff, scooter libby convicted of four
felonies (only to see his sentence insta-commuted,
by the president -- without mr. libby ever
even so much as asking for such a commutation).

and, that has NEVER happened -- not once! --
never, in the entire record-history of our nation.

astonishing, no? here is the chariman's statement:

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. (D-MI) today issued a subpoena to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide to the committee a number of previously requested documents by July 9. The Subcommittee on Commercial and Adminstrative Law voted this week to authorize committee Chairman John Conyers, Jr. to issue the subpoena at his discretion. The documents the committee is seeking cover a broad range of issues including the Valerie Plame leak, allegations of selective prosecution, and other matters. . . .

advertisement in favor of a convicted felon?
