on mr. cheney's remarks -- at west point -- today. . .
i hadn't planned on giving any
additional attention to the badly-
out-of-touch-with-reality visions
of the vice president, most recently
expressed this morning, at west point.
but then i saw what scarecrow at firedogake
wrote about it. i would simply urge
each of you to read his, then go read this one,
from the raw story -- linked by scarecrow,
in his. i could sit at the keyboard for
days, and not get to the heart of it the
way these two did in just a few paragraphs.
the veep's sneer against the relevance
of the geneva conventions was particularly
unfortunate. . . if we do not teach our own army oficers to honor the conventions, we have scarce moral standing to decry our opponents' kidnap and torture of our own soldiers.
now, i would be very curious to see
mr. cheney's reaction to the acoustic
guitar, unplugged, premier selection
tim mcgraw played, live, at the a.c.m.a.
awards show on c.b.s this past tuesday.
then, perhaps, instead of selling fear, mr.
cheney -- the "brains" of the operation --
might start offering acts of con-
trition, for all of those dead, and yet
to die, wearing our uniforms, or no
one's uniform at all. . .
