house judiciary committee to vote on subpoena to monica goodling, 10:15 a.m. today

update:
10:13 a.m. c.d.t.

~~~~~~~~~~~
immunity vote for goodling
tabled; subpoena vote still on. . .
l a t e r. . .
now, both subpeona and immunity
will be voted on april 25, 2007.
LIVE feed here -- real media.
rep. nadler, addressing
the judiciary committee:
". . .if someone suggests
crimes were committed. . . when
we haven’t said so ourselves, when the
fifth-ranking justice department official
hints that crimes may have been committed,
we ought to seek answers about it. . ."
~~~~~~~~~~

importantly, i read a few reports
overnight that suggest at least some
republicans intend to vote against
immunity -- now, i think conyers has
the votes to grant immunity
, as i said
yesterday, and the issuance of the
subpoena is then merely a formality to
ensure that ms. goodling is testify-
ing "under compulsion, pursuant to a
lawful order of a relevant jurisdiction
"
and would thus be completely immune from
attack by those who might complain about
her "voluntary" cooperation being somehow
a violation of the duties of confidentiality
she otherwise owes, as an a former EOAG senior
counsel about to "testify against her client". . .

but it is also possible that the deal
didn't come to pass -- and a confrontation
with the republican committee members will
break out at 10:15 am today. . .

wonder if C-SPAN is covering it. . . will
post a link here, if it is to be covered.

the last bit that i bolded below is a pretty
strong hint that one of the "crimes" she was
pleading the fifth for, was providing false
statements to congress. . .
